The CV series uses a multi-function, highly integrated turbine engine architecture: an integrated starter-generator, bearing lubrication and cooling, and fuel delivery and atomization are combined in a compact layout that reduces size and weight while improving reliability.
Combustion is handled by an advanced small-size direct-combustion combustor. The centrifugal atomizing fuel slinger combustor ignites fuel directly without preheating, which supports fast, reliable starts across the full speed range.
Compared with evaporator-tube combustors, the direct-combustion design also provides better fuel economy.
